About

I joined the department in 2014. Previously I worked as a postdoc researcher at the University of Amsterdam, Netherlands, where I also obtained my PhD in spatial planning. Having grown up in Germany, I studied Spatial Planning at TU Dortmund University in the Ruhr.

My research concentrates on planning issues of urban transformation in city regions from an institutional perspective. In particular I am interested in the relationship between the symbolic communication in planning process and its underlying institutional patterns. More recently I have worked on the relationship between governance and law in complex urban planning projects of sustainable urban development.

My teaching interest is on research design, strategic plans and projects from an international perspective, urban and planning theory and planning systems.
