I completed my PhD in cardiac electrophysiology at the University of Leicester then moved to study vascular electrophysiology and calcium homeostasis at the Universities of Leicester and Strathclyde for my first and second Post-Doctoral positions. I moved to the Department of Cardiovascular Sciences at Leicester in 2008 with a Research Fellowship and became a Lecturer in Cardiovascular Cell Physiology in 2015. I am currently a Senior Lecturer, and a member of the Department of Cardiovascular and Metabolic Medicine in the Institute of Life Course and Medical Sciences (ILCaMS) at the University of Liverpool, and I continue to research in cardiac and vascular electrophysiology, metabolic modulation of CVS function and cardioprotection/cardiotoxicity, working in both the department and the wider Liverpool Centre for Cardiovascular Sciences (the LCCS). In addition to my research, I am the "Science System Lead" for Cardiovascular Sciences in the Medical School, and the Academic Safety Lead for the institute (ILCaMS). I am also the course director for the Cell Physiology Workshop based in Liverpool (CPW-Liverpool), an internationally renowned electrophysiology workshop that brings together leading academic and industry partners to teach the fundamentals of electrophysiological recording and analysis to the next generation of researchers.
