Paula Case is a Senior Lecturer in Law at the University of Liverpool specialising in health law, medical regulation, and tort law. Her research focuses on professional regulation, fitness to practise, mental capacity, defensive practice in medicine and clinical negligence litigation, including the regulation of medicinal cannabis. She is on the steering group of the Health Law and Regulation Unit (HLRU). She has recently published in Medical Law Review and the Oxford Journal of Legal Studies and her work focuses on insight, remediation and redemption in fitness to practise for doctors, public interest appeals in professional regulation and legal issues pertaining to the prescription of medical cannabis.
She has served in a number of roles in the department, including as Assistant Head of Department, Chair of the Board of Examiners, Director of Learning and Teaching, Education Lead for the School and Director of LLM Programmes and was Editor of Medical Law International for over ten years.
