Research
Dr Wang's research focuses on smart, resilient and sustainable road transport infrastructures, with specific interests in the following topics.
Intelligent transport infrastructure systems
• Self-sensing/self-monitoring autonomous pavement system
• Energy-harvesting systems in roadway and bridge
• Modular integrated construction, such as prefabricated pavement.
Sustainable construction materials
• Novel, green and high-performance pavement materials, such as bio-binders.
• Circularity in construction materials, such as recycled asphalt pavement, recycling of waste tyre rubber and plastic in asphalt, etc.
• Environmental impact assessment of infrastructure materials and structures.
Climate resilient pavements
• Incorporating climate projections into pavement design and maintenance
• Low-impact development of pavement, such as porous asphalt, etc.
• Pavement management system and digital twin.
