About
Dr. Erica Li is a post-doctoral research associate in Microbiology at the University of Liverpool. Erica received her BSc in Microbiology from the University of Liverpool and a PhD in Molecular Microbiology from the University of East Anglia (UEA). Her PhD investigated the role of cancer chemotherapy drugs as drivers of emergence and spread of antibiotic resistance. Her postdoctoral experience at the Quadram Institute further expanded her expertise in bacterial lifestyles, including alternate bacterial lifestyles such as biofilms, cell wall deficiency and persisters. Erica's current research focuses on developing novel antimicrobial strategies. This includes the characterization of antimicrobial and anti-fouling surfaces, the study of antibiotic resistance mechanisms in bacterial populations, and the analysis of bacterial lifestyles such as initial biofilm formation and interspecies interactions, all with the goal of improving antimicrobial strategies to reduce antimicrobial resistance.
