I am an early medieval and digital historian, currently working on the AHRC-DFG funded project Monastic Economies in the Carolingian Age -- Farfa and Fulda. I completed my PhD here at the University of Liverpool, examining advice to kings and queens in Carolingian Europe (c. 751-888). I then took a brief – if frequently delayed – trip across the Pennines to the Digital Creativity and Cultures Hub at the University of Leeds, before returning to Liverpool. My current research focuses on the documentary culture of Farfa Abbey, near Rome, and the economic, social and spiritual aspects of this archival evidence.
