Our Department's research spans all scales, from atomic-level control of materials development and surface deposition to the large-scale production of components. Our expertise in human-centred design methodologies ensures that our research delivers lasting value and meets real end-user needs. We have successfully supported the spin-out of several high-profile companies across the biomedical, materials, and manufacturing disciplines, and we use this expertise to nurture the next generation of high-impact research.

Through strategic partnerships with the Digital Innovation Facility, Virtual Engineering Centre, the Materials Innovation Factory, and the Albert Crewe Centre for Electron Microscopy, we deliver socially responsible impact on a global scale.
