Nussaibah Younis is a peacebuilding practitioner and globally-recognised expert on contemporary Iraq.

At the festival she will be discussing her satirical novel Fundamentally, shortlisted for the Women’s Prize for Fiction 2025, which explores the complexities of love, radicalism, and identity through the story of academic Nadia, who is tasked with re-radicalising women affiliated with ISIS in Iraq.
Nussaibah has a PhD in International Affairs and was a Senior Fellow at the Atlantic Council in Washington DC, where she directed the Task Force on the Future of Iraq. She has published Op-Eds in the Wall Street Journal, the Guardian, and the New York Times.
