Growing up as a Gen Z, Adele spent endless hours as a teenager on social media, which shaped her view of both herself and the world around her. As a freelance journalist, she has used her social media platforms and digital technology to develop a career in an unfamiliar and competitive industry, benefiting from the opportunities that these spaces can offer. But, after losing her sister to online harm, she realised that our current digital world is failing us.
Adele will be joining us to discuss her recently published book Logging Off: The Human Cost of Our Digital World where she has channelled her personal loss into advocating for a safer digital world for young people. She will be in conversation with University of Liverpool lecturer Dr Mark McGlashan, an expert on the language of online safeguarding.
Adele is a member of Bereaved Families for Online Safety and a youth ambassador for People Vs Big Tech. She is also co-founder of the Logging Off Club, which brings people together offline at phone-free events to reconnect and promote connection, curiosity and wellness.
