    Personal Statement

    Dr O'Neill is an oral surgeon with a special interest in the diagnosis and management of facial pain and practices at the Liverpool University Dental Hospital and The Walton Centre. With a background in neuroscience including electrophysiology his research interests include nerve stimulation for lingual nerve mapping, the use of central and peripheral neuromodulation in the treatment of chronic pain with techniques such as transcranial direct current stimulation and sphenopalatine ganglion stimulation. Understanding neurophysiology of pain using in vivo human microneurography, and the use of novel diagnostic tests including corneal confocal microscopy.
