Personal Statement

Lorenzo Ressel has a veterinary degree from the University of Pisa (2005) where he also gained his PhD with a dissertation on PTEN protein expression and its prognostic implications in canine and feline mammary tumours (2009). He is a fellow of the Higher Education academy (FHEA) and a diplomate of the European College of Veterinary Pathologists (DipECVP) since 2015.
After working as research pathologist on stem cell biology (2009-2010) and as diagnostic pathologist (2011) he joined the University of Liverpool in November 2011 as Lecturer in Veterinary Pathology. Lorenzo is highly involved in teaching anatomic and general pathology with a main focus on Neoplasia. Lorenzo developed the Diagnostic Immunohistology Service, to assist in grading and prognostic evaluation for a number of companion animal tumours and he is the head of immunohistology and electron microscopy services. He is author of more than 20 peer reviewed papers on tumour biology, biomedical research and immunohistological techniques.
