About

Personal Statement

I qualified as a veterinary surgeon in 2005 and worked in mixed practice before returning to Leahurst to complete a 3 year residency in epidemiology sponsored by the Horse Trust. During this time I developed an interest in both infectious and non-communicable diseases and using epidemiology and molecular microbiology to address clinical research questions. I completed a PhD on the epidemiology of recurrent colic and horse-owner approaches to colic at the University of Liverpool in 2012.

Current collaborative projects include; Developing disease control strategies for Histoplasmosis, Ocular disease and Colic in working equids, Horse-owner views on biosecurity and Strangles infection.
