Professor Laura Harkness
Pro-Vice-Chancellor and Head of the Faculty of Science & Engineering
Professor Laura Harkness is Pro-Vice-Chancellor and Head of the Faculty of Science and Engineering. She is a proud alumnus of the University of Liverpool, at which she obtained her undergraduate degree and PhD. As a Professor of Nuclear Physics, she has led a research team to deliver interdisciplinary research projects enabled by over £30M funding from UKRI and industry. She enjoys building impactful research partnerships for and developed a national research network in cancer diagnosis with members from over 50 organisations.
Laura has held many external advisory positions and is currently a Partner Director of the Board of the Henry Royce Institute for Advanced Materials and a member of the National Physical Laboratory Science and Technology Advisory Council. She has a track record in encouraging underrepresented groups into STEM, and is the University of Liverpool EDI Chair.
