About us
The Trailfinder CF Innovation Hub is a multi-centre initiative led by the University of Liverpool in collaboration with nine partner institutions. It is funded by the Cystic Fibrosis Trust and LifeArc.
We help individuals with cystic fibrosis throughout their lives by advancing innovative treatments for lung infections, managing exacerbations, and supporting long-term lung health.
Trailfinder CF is part of the Translational Innovation Hub Network, alongside Pulse-CF (University of Manchester), Precision-CF (Imperial College London) and Flare-CF (University of Cambridge).
Our challenge
Maintaining lung health throughout the life-course is a key priority for people with cystic fibrosis, and treatment-resistant lung infections still cause significant problems for people of all ages.
There is an urgent need to find new medicines to treat highly antibiotic-resistant infections, and to develop new ways to help tailor treatments to each individual and each infection. This will help maximise the effectiveness of current therapies while reducing unwanted side effects.
Our research will focus on two key challenges in managing lung infections in people with cystic fibrosis: advancing phage therapy and improving treatment for exacerbations.

We want to see better treatments for all people with Cystic Fibrosis, throughout life, while also training the next generation of talented researchers.
