Care Experienced Students
The University of Liverpool is committed to supporting care leavers and care experienced students prior to starting their courses and throughout their studies.
We offer any care experienced young person an extensive support package which recognises the specific barriers this group faces. Supported by staff with extensive knowledge in this area, care experienced students are offered holistic, wraparound support including:
- A named contact within the Widening Participation and Outreach team for pre-entry support (Ben Toleman)
- Bespoke pre-entry campus visits, where you'll receive information and guidance on your application, meet current students and tutors from subject areas of interest and take part in a campus and accommodation tour
- A contextual offer at the University of Liverpool (excluding Medicine and Foundation programme). Please visit the contextual admissions webpage for further details
- The Care Leavers Opportunity Bursary, worth £3,000 per year (subject to eligibility criteria)
- A discount on University owned Halls of Residence, for holders of the Care Leavers Opportunity Bursary
- 365 day accommodation
- Support with fees for a guarantor scheme in Year 2 and 3
- A named contact (Martina Ferrari) within the Wellbeing, Advice and Guidance team, who can act as a link between the University, your Local Authority and any other internal or external services as required
- A place on the Liverpool Plus student transition and success programme
In recognition of our support for this group, we have been awarded the NNECL Quality Mark.
