The School of Electrical Engineering, Electronics and Computer Science is at the forefront of world-leading and internationally acclaimed research in this fast moving discipline. Our postgraduate master’s and research programmes offer high quality specialised training for graduates with Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or related science degrees. With one of the largest postgraduate bodies in the University you will be taught in state-of-the-art facilities by academics who are leaders internationally in their research fields.

Electrical Engineering and Electronics at Liverpool is at the forefront of research in this fast-moving discipline and our postgraduate body is one of the largest in the University, encompassing world-class fundamental and applied research. We offer an exciting, theoretical and practical range of degree programmes which address all of the major subject areas underpinning the new IT based modern economy.

We organise our research into four interacting groups, each headed by a Professor. These groups are:
- BioMEMS, Organic and Silicon Electronics
- Intelligence Engineering and Industrial Automation
- Plasma and Complex Systems
- Signal Processing and Communications
Research work is funded by the UK Research Councils, the EU and industry and we've strong links with other disciplines, including basic science, life sciences and mathematics.
Research in the department connects and contributes strongly to undergraduate teaching.
