The Walton Centre Charity has provided funding to support the Liverpool Clinical Neuroscience Award, designed to facilitate engagement with neuroscience. The award will help successful medical students to intercalate on the Neuroscience MSc at Liverpool.
Value
Two medical students will be awarded £20,000 each for the 2026/27 academic year.
The award covers home tuition fees.
Any remaining funds will be awarded as a maintenance stipend.
Eligibility
This scholarship is available to UK medical students applying to study the Neuroscience MSc at Liverpool.

Applicants must submit:
- A completed application form (covering qualifications, awards, prizes, extracurricular activities, and a personal statement on why they have a particular interest in neuroscience and how they have followed through on this interest through extracurricular activities)
- An academic reference
- University exam results- attach a transcript of exam marks to date (only applicable to non-University of Liverpool students)
The application deadline is 27 March 2026.
Assessment
We'll assess applications in early July 2026, when undergraduate year-three exam results have been released.

Triage and shortlisting
The assessors will triage and shortlist applications based on the highest exam marks and best personal statements.
Interviews
We'll conduct online interviews in July 2026. We'll interview four to six candidates for the two available scholarships.
Russell Smith from the intercalation team will inform interviewed students of the outcome.
Successful students will be required to complete payment forms and send them to our finance team.
