The name Saskatoon comes from a native word for a berry that grows along the river called missaskquahtoomina. Saskatoon is located along the South Saskatchewan River and is known as a city of bridges, which has led, along with its cultural sophistication and wealth of Art Nouveau architecture, to its nickname as the Paris of the Prairies. Saskatoon is the largest city in the province of Saskatchewan and a cultural hub, with a wealth of museums and festivals throughout the year. Saskatoon is known for its stunning riverbank views, big-city amenities, and small-town hospitality.

University Information

Located in the heart of Saskatoon, the University of Saskatchewan is both the largest and the oldest in the province, founded in 1907 and now with a student body of over 19,000. A member of Canadas prestigious U15, representing the 15 most research intensive universities in Canada, U of S is famous for its beautiful campus and strong academics.
