Founded in 1718 as a Spanish colonial outpost, San Antonio is a city that combines its vibrant history with the fast-paced, city living of the United States. Located in the south of Texas, San Antonio has a a humid subtropical climate that is characteristic of the Southern Plains of the USA. Well-known for being the scene of the Battle of the Alamo and the Texan independence movement, modern San Antonio is a multicultural city that is famous for its picturesque river walks.
The University of Texas at San Antonio is a state research university based in the Northwest Side of San Antonio, Texas. Founded in 1969, UTSA is a public research university that currently has 30,000 students and approximately 1,300 members of academic staff. The university is home to robust research programs in health, cybersecurity, energy, sustainability, and human and social development.
