City Information
Melbourne, the state capital of Victoria, has been voted the most liveable city in the world by the Economist for 7 years running. The city has a variable climate and has been described as having four seasons in one day. However, the city can still be enjoyed all year round! Melbourne is famous for its love of sports, food and good coffee, it is the arts, culture and sporting capital of Australia. It therefore has something to suit all interests!
University Information
The Monash University was founded in 1958 and is the second oldest university in the state of Victoria. Monash is a member of the Group of Eight which consist of the leading universities for research in Australia. The university is ranked 78th in the world and 4th nationally according to the Academic Ranking of World Universities. Monash currently has over 70,000 students and just fewer than 7,000 staff covering a large number of courses from engineering to medicine. Monash is best known for its large number of research centres including the Australian Stem Cell Centre. The university also has an ambitious goal of becoming completely renewable within the next 15 years via its net zero initiative.
