    About

    Personal Statement

My research area is surface- and nano-physics of complex materials, particularly quasicrystals and intermetallic alloys. The goal is to achieve atomic scale understanding of physical phenomena, and to look for potential technological applications, such as catalysts, solar cells, and thin film growth.

    Education
    - Doctor in Physics (September 1999 - October 2002), Free University Berlin, Germany, Structure, Morphology and Dynamics of Quasicrystal Surfaces, Supervisor: Prof Karl-Heinz Rieder
    - Postgraduate Diploma in Condensed Matter Physics (October 1998 - September 1999), International Centre for Theoretical Physics (ICTP), Trieste, Italy
    - Master Course in Atomic Physics, (October 1997 - September 1998), Rikkyo University, Tokyo, Japan
    - M. Sc. in Physics (August 1995 - September 1997), Tribhuvan University, Kathmandu, Nepal

    Employment
    - Lecturer, Department of Physics, the University of Liverpool (2007 March-cont.)
    - Senior Researcher (Permanent Government Employee), National Institute for Materials Science, Tsukuba, Ibaraki, Japan (April 2006 - March 2007)
    - Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) Postdoctoral Fellow, National Institute for Materials Science, Tsukuba, Ibaraki, Japan (November 2004 - March 2006)
    - Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST) Postdoctoral Research Fellow (December 2002 - November 2004), National Institute for Materials Science, Tsukuba, Ibaraki, Japan
