About
Dr Marisol Collins is Lecturer in Veterinary Pharmacology and Clinical Skills, Subject Lead for Veterinary Pharmacology, and Year 2 Academic Lead for the BVSc programme at the University of Liverpool. A Liverpool graduate in both Biochemistry and Veterinary Science, her career spans clinical practice, research and veterinary education. After many years in companion animal first opinion practice, she returned to academia, bringing extensive clinical experience to her teaching and research.
Following postgraduate training in International Animal Health, Clinical Sciences and Higher Education, she completed a PhD investigating the epidemiology of canine echinococcosis and livestock hydatidosis in the UK. Her research interests include veterinary parasitology and parasiticide use, epidemiology, infectious diseases and One Health, with post-doctoral projects ranging from companion animal disease surveillance in the UK to parasite and tick-borne disease research in East Africa. Alongside her disciplinary research, she has an active interest in veterinary education and pedagogic scholarship. Current educational research focuses on the use of 3D-printing technologies to support clinical skills teaching and on understanding the barriers students face when learning quantitative and population-based subjects such as statistics and epidemiology. These interests reflect a commitment to making complex subjects accessible and supporting the development of confident, evidence-informed veterinary professionals.
