About

Dr Mitchell is an NIHR Clinical Lecturer in Neurology at the University of Liverpool and neurology registrar at The Walton Centre NHS Foundation Trust, with clinical interests in general adult neurology and adult epileptology. He completed a three-year Association of British Neurologists (ABN) Clinical Research Training Fellowship leading the development of an internationally endorsed Core Outcome Set for adult epilepsy trials (www.epsetproject.org), and worked with the International Consortium for Health Outcomes Measurement (ICHOM) to develop the adult and paediatric consensus recommendations for outcome measurement in routine epilepsy care.

His research focuses on how outcomes are measured for people with epilepsy in clinical practice and research, including patient-reported outcome measures, modern psychometric methods and the integration of standardised outcomes into NHS care. He is member of the NIHR Academy and co-leads the Epilepsy Research Institute's Capacity Building theme, to help shape the Institute's vision and strategy so that early career researchers are attracted to epilepsy research and supported through their career progression.
