Semester Abroad
Carleton University, Ottawa, Canada
My highlight of the Study Abroad Programme was the opportunity to meet and socialise with a diverse group of people from all over the world. In my time abroad I had the privilege of living on the same floor as people from Denmark, The Netherlands, Peru, USA and of course Canada.
During this time I made fantastic friends and had a really good opportunity to learn how different cultures live and coexist. I also played for Carleton Men’s First XI which was a privilege, playing the sport I love on foreign soil and being treated as an equal was amazing.
Another enjoyable part of my time abroad was the term dates, I had the chance to travel North America and see two of the Natural wonders of the world due to the North American Universities having earlier term dates. It was like breaking your academic year into two separate summer vacations.
I would tell someone who is considering Study Abroad not to hesitate and to finish the application, it is everything you could possibly imagine and more. I only applied on a whim and I can honestly say that it is something that will have undoubtedly changed the course of my life both culturally and academically.
I have gained a whole host of qualities from Studying Abroad namely; employability benefits, lifelong friendships and the peace of mind to know that every University experience that has been made available to me has been seized.
