    About

    Personal Statement

I am a lecturer at the Department of Operations & Supply Chain Management at the University of Liverpool Management School. During my PhD period, I addressed two key operations optimisation problems at container ports to improve the import container retrieval efficiency. My PhD thesis was awarded the Best PhD Thesis (the MEL ‘Springer-Palgrave-Macmillan’ Prize) in the 8th Maritime Economics & Logistics (MEL) PhD Competition in the 2019-2022 triennium.

My research interests are operations management problems in transport, logistics, and supply chain management. I apply Operations Research (OR) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) methods, including mathematical modelling and algorithms, simulation, meta-heuristics, and data analytics, to address relevant operations optimisation problems, facilitate decision-making and provide managerial insights. My present research is mainly on optimisation problems in container port operations, focusing on improving the operational and environmental performances of the ports. Some of my research has been published in journals in the areas of transportation and operations research, such as Transportation Research Part B: Methodological (ABS 4-rated journal) and European Journal of Operational Research (ABS 4-rated journal).

Currently, I serve as a regular reviewer for international journals such as Transportation Research Part E: Logistics and Transportation Review, OR Spectrum, and International Journal of Shipping and Transport Logistics.
