Dr. Sushil Sainani is an assistant professor in corporate finance at the Management School, University of Liverpool. He was awarded his Ph.D. in Finance from the University of Liverpool in 2017 and his Master's degree in Financial Economics from the Adam Smith Business School of Glasgow University in 2012.
Sushil's research focuses on understanding and measuring actions, skills, and other unique traits of modern Chief Financial Officers (CFOs) that differentiates corporate (financial and investment) policies in the firms they manage. Broadly, his research and teaching interest are in the field of corporate finance, environmental, social and corporate governance (ESG), and market-based financial accounting. His works have been published in leading academic journals across disciplines, including the Journal of Corporate Finance (JCF) and the European Journal of Operational Research (EJOR); and been covered in mainstream outlets such as CFA Institute - Digest, Columbia Law School's Blog on Corporations and the Capital Markets (Columbia University) and Insigniam Quarterly.
Sushil is a regular presenter/speaker at several prestigious academic conferences in accounting and finance including European Financial Management Association (EFMA), Financial Management Association (FMA), European Accounting Association (EAA), American Accounting Association (AAA), Infiniti Conference on International Finance, India Finance Conference (IFC), Multinational Finance Society (MFS), British Accounting and Finance Association (BAFA), World Finance Conference (WFC) and Financial Management & Accounting Research Conference (FMARC).
