I joined ULMS as a Professor of Human Resource Management and Organizational Behaviour in February 2017. My research and supervision interests include: knowledge work; HRM/IHRM; changing work and career dynamics; diversity and inclusion; the employment relationship and comparative employment systems. I am currently examining IT work and its management in the UK, US and India. This includes BA/Leverhulme funded research with Dr Etlyn Kenny on gender salience in IT in the UK.
Before joining Liverpool, I worked at Birmingham Business School (Lecturer to Reader), where I was Head of the Organisation, Work and Employment Department (2013-16). I continue to be an associate of the Work Inclusivity Research Centre at the School.
Prior to Birmingham, I held postdoctoral research positions at Manchester Business School, where I was a member of the Europe Work and Employment Research Centre (EWERC). This involved being a member of the ‘Expert Group on Gender Social Inclusion and Employment’ and working on the ‘Dynamics of National Employment Models’ project (EU 6th Framework).
I am a member of the Academy of Management, the British Sociological Association and the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD). I am a co-author of the sixth edition of HRM at Work and an editorial board member of Work, Employment and Society.
