Personal Statement

Oliver is a macroeconomist with research interests in monetary economics, macro-finance, asset pricing and computational methods.

He is a full professor at the University of Liverpool Management School and is currently Head of the Economics Subject Group, prior to which he was the Group's Director of Research. The Economics Group is made up of around 45 faculty and is one of six Subject Groups within the Management School.

Before joining Liverpool, Oliver held positions at the European Central Bank in Frankfurt, the University of St Andrews in Scotland, and the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System in Washington DC. He holds a MA, MPhil and PhD from the University of Cambridge and was the Mead Research Fellow in Economics at Emmanuel College, Cambridge.

Oliver's research has been published in leading academic journals such as Econometrica, the Economic Journal, the Journal of Monetary Economics, and Quantitative Economics. He has also guest edited a special issue at the Journal of Macroeconomics and has held visiting and/or consulting positions at the Bank of England, Bank of Finland, Narodowy Bank Polski, National Bank of Kazakhstan, and International Monetary Fund.
