Project description:
Working under the supervision of Professor Roland Clark, students will conduct archival research on the history of the university and its relationship to the city of Liverpool over time. Making use of the Special Collections and Archives in the Sydney Jones Library and the Athenaeum Library, they will produce usable and detailed notes that will form the basis of chapters for a new and innovative history of the university, to be published in 2031. Topics to be explored include, but are not limited to, architectural history, histories of politics and activism, race, sex and gender, music, the environment, science and innovation, and health and medicine. This is primarily scoping research and students will use their findings to make recommendations about how chapters should be structured and what arguments might be made with these sources.
