Keira's story
"I never outgrew my childhood dream of studying to be a vet, despite the challenges I faced with my disability. Being undiagnosed with ADHD throughout my school years meant I struggled to grasp concepts like mathematics. Multiple teachers told me it would be impossible for me to study Veterinary Science at university - but this only fuelled my motivation to pursue this career further."
Resourceful. Unique. Dedicated.
"With the help of teachers in secondary school, I discovered effective study methods that worked for me. As I gradually improved, I developed a love for science. It was then that I understood why I wanted to be a vet: to improve the health and wellbeing of animals and people through the application of science.
I am beyond grateful to be studying at the University of Liverpool. The support from the disability advice and guidance team for my ADHD has been game-changing, allowing me to excel in the course. The veterinary curriculum here is challenging yet fascinating, making each day unique and so provides many learning opportunities.
Liverpool also has such a welcoming vibe and vibrant nightlife with something always going on. I couldn’t picture myself studying anywhere else!"
