Postgraduate Certificate Academic Practice

The Postgraduate Certificate Academic Practice (PGCAP) is a Level 7 qualification which can be taken as an exit award, or part of the University’s PGDip/MA in Learning and Teaching in Higher Education.

The overall aim of the PGCAP is to support and enhance the development of a rich and diverse learning and teaching culture at the University of Liverpool.

The programme is accredited by Advance HE and enables colleagues with substantive and significant teaching responsibilities to gain a teaching qualification and recognition as a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA).

The programme is made up of two modules:

• Developing Academic Practice x 40 credits focused on enabling participants to reflect on, evaluate and improve their knowledge, skills and values in relation to learning, teaching, assessment and curriculum
• Individual Investigation to Inform Innovation and Excellence x 20 credits designed to provide participants with choice to investigate a selected area of academic practice aligned with the University Education Strategy.

Applications for Autumn Cohort (2024/2025) will close on Friday 6 September 2024, 12noon. Apply using the online form.
