Radiotherapy Practice 3 (Radiotherapy Clinical Learning and Advancing Professionalism)

Code: RADT335

Credits: 30

Semester: Semester 1 and Semester 2

This is the final clinical learning and professional module of the BSc Therapeutic Radiography and Oncology programme.

The module will build on clinical and professional knowledge and skills gained in RADT112 and RADT235, further developing radiotherapy technical skills, communication skills, and understanding of patient equality and diversity. The module will also advance learners understanding of the roles of the professional body (Society and College of Radiographers (SCoR)), regulator (Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)) and the individual in maintaining standards of care, preparation for practice and continuing professional development.

Lectures, e-lectures and electronic resources will be used to provide learners with a comprehensive knowledge of the profession. Tutorials and practical sessions will enable learners to practise clinical technical skills as well as communication through roleplay and interactions with actors and service users. Seventeen weeks of clinical placement will allow learners to consolidate academic underpinning knowledge through observation and practice to achieve the standards required of a Therapeutic Radiographer upon graduation. Scheduled Academic advisor meetings will be used to help learners develop action plans for their personal, academic and clinical development.

The module assessment comprises two components:

1. Reflective Assignment (100%)
2. Clinical Assessment (RAY 3 – Pass/Fail)
