Foundations of Radiation Oncology and Patient Care 1

Using a blended approach, this module will enable students to develop the skills-base needed for safe and effective radiotherapy practice. It will also develop their fundamental understanding of cancer, its treatment and the effects of treatment on patient care. Students will be introduced to their first oncology site, skin cancers, where they will develop their understanding of skin oncology managment and care of the patient diagnosed with skin cancer.

The module will be delivered using face-to-face lectures, with a small amount of pre-recorded content, small group tutorials and small group practical sessions in the radiotherapy skills simulation suite and the Human Anatomy Resource Centre (HARC).

The assessment for the module consists of:

1. Written case study assignment (50%)

2. Unseen, computer-based exam (50%)
