Particle Physics

Code: PHYS377

Credits: 15

Semester: Semester 1

This module provides an introduction to modern particle physics, exploring the fundamental constituents of matter and the forces that govern their interactions. Building on earlier study of nuclear and particle physics, students develop a coherent understanding of the Standard Model, relativistic kinematics, particle interactions, and experimental evidence from modern accelerators and detectors. The module emphasises both conceptual insight and quantitative problem solving, preparing students for advanced study or careers in physics and related fields.
