This level four 15 credit module is the first within the ‘Occupation for Health and Wellbeing ’ theme. The module will focus on human body systems’ impact on occupational performance. Students will apply their knowledge of anatomy and physiology to task analysis and authentic case studies.
Teaching will be informed by learner-centred pedagogy. This may include a hybrid 'flipped classroom' approach, where students are provided with resources to view prior to class teaching. It is anticipated that the module will involve use of the inspiring electronic resources related to anatomy and physiology available via the University of Liverpool library. Class teaching will actively consolidate this learning, for example by completing diagrams, quizzes, or other tasks.
Learning and teaching is delivered by online lectures and in person activities including lectures and interactive small group seminars supported through the use of videos and self directed learning. Students will also attend sessions facilitated by the Human Anatomy Research Centre. These HARC sessions will consolidate learning with practical work using prosected body parts, models, online platforms and guidance from anatomy instructors.
Whole class teaching will be supplemented with tutorials that use group work to further consolidate learning and practice tasks relevant to the summative assessment. There will also be a formative assessment opportunity.
Overall, it is intended that the module will prepare students to apply anatomy and physiology concepts in a manner like that required during practice education and in their future clinical practice.
