Applications of Biomechanics

Code: MUBM003

Credits: 30

Semester: Semester 2

This module provides students with a comprehensive overview of the core applications and careers in biomechanics through seminars with professionals, researchers and industry representatives. The module emphasizes a broad understanding of different areas of musculoskeletal (MSK) biomechanics, equipping students with a robust knowledge base for future career directions. This approach allows students to explore and develop their individual interests from current research and real-world examples, be that human or animal biomechanics, clinical or veterinary applications, sports science, or new technologies including robotics and computational modelling.
Assessment consists of two components:
1. Short written reflections and critical evaluations on each seminar forming a comprehensive portfolio that is individual to each student.
2. A written piece of work, which can be tailored to students future career interests (e.g., research proposal, business proposal, outreach/communication to patients).
