Principles of Musculoskeletal Biomechanics

Code: MUBM001

Credits: 30

Semester: Semester 1

This module details the key principles of musculoskeletal (MSK) biomechanics, integrating essential concepts from functional anatomy, exercise physiology, and physics/mechanics. It aims to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the core principles governing MSK function and the skills to apply them in a range of situations.
Rather than focusing on a specific application, the module emphasizes a broad understanding of MSK biomechanics, equipping students with a robust knowledge base. This approach allows students to explore and develop their individual interests.
To enrich the learning experience, the module features a diverse array of examples globally and from various domains, including fundamental biomechanics, sports biomechanics, clinical applications, and animal biomechanics. Through this varied approach, students will gain a well-rounded perspective on the fundamental principles of MSK biomechanics.
