This module provides students with an introduction to the concepts, theories, and principles guiding urbanisation. explores aspects of the urban development process including the history of human agglomeration; trends and patterns of urban development, the growth of cities; power, critique and reflexivity in underlying dynamics of urbanisation and sustainable development; and the constraints, benefits and limitations of actors in urban development praxis at various scales. The module is delivered through interactive lectures and guest talks. It equips students with the skills and practices necessary to implement and manage urban regeneration and heritage conservation initiatives, with due consideration for the variety of stakeholders involved.
