Microeconomics

Code: ECON731

Credits: 20

Semester: Semester 1

This module equips students with a deep understanding of microeconomics, focusing on how individuals and firms make decisions about allocating scarce resources and how these decisions shape market outcomes. Students will critically examine the forces driving supply and demand, the impact of market structures on competition and pricing, and the role of government policies in influencing economic behaviour. The module also introduces sustainability considerations and links to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals to show how microeconomic decisions affect environmental and social outcomes. Through real-world examples and interactive discussions, students will develop a strong foundation in microeconomics and its application to business, policy, and strategic decision-making.
