Equality, Diversity, Inclusion, and Wellbeing (EDI&W) Committee
Committee Description
The School of CS&I EDI&W Committee provides leadership and strategic direction with the twin goals of:
- Making EDI&W considerations central to all our activities.
- Creating a supportive and inclusive community of practice across the school.
Terms of Reference
The Committee’s responsibilities and decision-making powers are as follows:
- Ensure EDI&W considerations inform all aspects of our school business by developing
and recommending changes to policies, strategies and practices.
- Identify the school’s common training and support needs for EDI&W work and oversee
the delivery of provision to meet them.
- Promote positive equality, diversity, and inclusion cultural transformation by
challenging, developing, and recommending changes to policies and practices.
- Monitor and oversee completion of the outcomes of the Faculty Race Equality Charter
(REC) action plan.
- Develop a School EDI&W Action Plan and monitor and oversee the completion of
outcomes.
- Achieve AS accreditation by carrying out the associated action plan.
- Support the University in achieving its AS and REC accreditation and carrying out the
associated action plans.
Reporting Relationships
The School EDI&W Committee will report to CS&I School Leads Team and to the Faculty EDI Committee through the Faculty EDI&W Chair.
Frequency of Meetings
The Faculty EDI&W Committee will meet four to six times per year (2 hours each). Hybrid attendance will be available in line with Faculty Policy.

Other members
- The Committee may establish time-limited groups as necessary to deal with pertinent issues.
- The quorum for the Committee is set at one-third of its total members.
- If non-University staff or University staff who are not members of the Committee wish to attend, then a formal written request must be made to the Chair who will then decide whether the attendance at the meeting is appropriate.
The terms of reference will be reviewed on an annual basis.
