About us
Established in 1983, Computer Science at the University of Liverpool has grown from a department into a dynamic school with a global outlook and a strong track record in both research and education. Over the decades, we have built an international reputation for our work in key areas such as artificial intelligence, algorithms, and data science.
Today, the School of Computer Science and Informatics is home to a vibrant academic community, with over 60 research-active staff and a dedicated technical support team. We work in close partnership with industry across a wide range of sectors, from mobile computing to artificial intelligence, to develop technologies with real-world impact.
Our degree programmes span the full spectrum of computer science, blending core theory with extensive hands-on experience. Students can also choose from a range of joint degrees, combining computer science with subjects such as business, engineering, and life sciences.
With over 600 undergraduate students, more than 100 on-campus postgraduate students, and over 1,000 learners enrolled in our online master’s programmes, we are proud to be shaping the next generation of computer scientists at every stage of their journey.
Evolving modules
The knowledge gained from our research activities feeds directly into our undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. We are developing our modules all the time to take account of new technologies, industry trends and methods.
