Help shape our vision
Share your time and skills to empower lives and make a difference.
By sharing your knowledge and varied skillsets you can help grow the entrepreneurial talents of our young people. There are two broad areas where you can get involved to support our activities.
If you can help to coach, mentor or invest in our enterprise activities, please get in touch via email sprcfe@liverpool.ac.uk.
Student enterprise
However you want to help expand our student offering, we want to hear from you.
Get involved with activities such as:
Student operated start-ups
Get involved with start-ups operated by University of Liverpool students. These are supported by the University's entrepreneurship centres or business programmes with the aim of experiential learning and generating social impact or revenue. They may also attract investment and scale into real-world companies.
Mentoring and coaching
Acting as a mentor, coach or critical friend to users of the Centre helps people grow their entrepreneurial skills. We're looking for entrepreneurs in residence, who can offer coaching and mentoring to develop young people's skills. You can also participate in start-up clinics, offering advice in a range of important areas of running a business, from bid-writing to legal and financial matters.
Funding
By funding certain aspects of the programme, you can help us enhance our impact and grow our offering to young people, students and staff who are using the Centre. On top of funding parts of the programme, there's also an opportunity to invest directly as an Angel in student businesses to help grow start-ups.
Engagement
There are a range of opportunities to get involved in engagement at the Sir Peter Rigby Centre. We're looking for experts to:
- Give inspirational talks to motivate young people
- Offer internships to allow Centre users to put their learning to use in the real world
- Judge pitching competitions and help young people adapt and enhance their skills.
Academic enterprise
As well as supporting our efforts in student enterprise, there are a number of opportunities to get involved in our academic enterprise efforts, supporting spin-outs and other research-related activities.
To get involved in our academic enterprise activities and offer your expertise, you can get in touch with the Enterprise Team.
Working with staff-operated spin-outs
Collaborating with spin-outs formed by University staff to help them commercialise intellectual property (IP) and technology emerging from University research. These spin-outs are created in collaboration with the University, which holds equity and often provides pre-seed investment.
Mentoring
We're looking for support from sector and technology development experts who can help guide inventors and spin-out founders through various vital processes in the route to market, with expertise in leadership, IP strategy, regulatory, and investor issues.
Funding
Assisting with funding support means providing pitching advice, as well as helping with developing links to potential high net worth investors, family offices, Venture Capitalists, corporate venturing and industry partners.
Engagement
There are multiple ways to get involved in engagement from an academic enterprise point of view at the Sir Peter Rigby Centre, including:
- Participating in expert panels to help evaluate technology, business models and strategy as part of our stage-gated process
- Offering expertise in non-executive director roles on spin-out company boards.
