This Privacy notice sets out how we use your personal data and your rights regarding that information.
Who will own my data once I submit it?

Why do you need my information?
We collect personal data about you when you express interest in our Enterprise support services. We typically collect the following data for the purposes of liaising with you about the services you have expressed an interest in:
- Personal contact details such as your name, title, address, telephone numbers, email address
- Student/staff number
- Company name, registration number or UTR number (where applicable)
- Date of birth and gender (where applicable)
- Evidence of your nationality and eligibility to work/start-up business in the UK (where applicable)
- Information about your requested business support needs and potential provision and assistance suggested to/agreed with you
- Correspondence with or about you, in relation to the support requested/ provided
- Your national insurance number (where applicable)
- Information about your use of our information and communications systems
- Photographs for use in marketing (where prior permission agreed)
- Whether you would like to subscribe to our newsletter.
What allows you to use my information?
The legal basis for collecting and using this information will be your consent, and you can withdraw your consent at any time.
Who will my information be shared with?
The University may process your personal data for the following purposes:
- To contact you about events or other relevant opportunities and process event bookings e.g. issue joining instructions
- To provide you with and manage your use of University relevant facilities and support services
- To compile statistical returns which the University may be required to publish or pass data to government bodies or the Higher Education Statistics Agency (HESA)
- To gather feedback from you about your experience of working with us.
If you no longer wish to be contacted for marketing purposes, you can either contact us at sprcfe@liverpool.ac.uk and request to be removed or simply click the ‘unsubscribe’ button at the bottom of any marketing e-mails or newsletters.
The University may share your data with:
- Employees of the University for the purpose of providing you with appropriate support
- Third parties that process data on behalf of the University to support it in fulfilling its obligations and responsibilities to and relationship with you (e.g. software and system providers (e.g. Eventbrite, MailChimp Microsoft)
- Other business support services organisations, for the purposes of signposting to support for you and/or your business
- Delivery partners or workshop hosts.
Do I have to provide this information and what will happen if I don’t?
You do not have to consent to us collecting your information. If you do not provide, or ask us to delete your data, we will maintain a skeleton record comprising your name and student/staff number. We do this to ensure compliance with statutory reporting requirements and to ensure we do not inadvertently contact you in future. However, without certain information, the University may not be able to offer a full range of support.
How long will you keep this data for and why?
We will only retain your personal information for as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes we collected it for, including for the purposes of satisfying any legal, accounting, contractual or reporting requirements.
How will my information be stored?
Your information will be held securely on the University’s servers and stored in compliance with UK Data Protection law.
Will this information be used to take automated decisions about me?
The information will not be used to make automated decisions about you.
Will my data be transferred abroad and why?
Generally, we do not send your personal data outside the UK. However, in some specific cases, we may transfer the personal data we collect. Your information may be uploaded to Mailchimp, the system used to send out communications. Mailchimp is based in Atlanta, Georgia, United States.
What rights do I have when it comes to my data?
Under the UK General Data Protection Regulation, you may have the following rights with regards to your personal data:
- The Right to subject access – you have the right to see a copy of the personal data that the University holds about you and find out what it is used for
- The Right to rectification – you have the right to ask the University to correct or remove any inaccurate data that we hold about you
- The Right to erasure (right to be forgotten) you have the right to ask the University to remove data that we hold about you
- The Right to restriction – you have the right to ask for your information to be restricted (locked down) on University systems
- The Right to data portability – you have the right to ask for your data to be transferred back to you or to a new provider at your request
- The Right to object – you have the right to ask the University to stop using your personal data or to stop sending you marketing information, or complain about how your data is used
- The Right to prevent automated decision making – you have the right to ask the University to stop using your data to make automated decisions about you or to stop profiling your behaviour (where applicable).

Who can I complain to if I am unhappy about how my data is used?
