Code of Practice on Assessment

The Code of Practice on Assessment sets out the frameworks for the structure and assessment of taught undergraduate and modular postgraduate degrees and awards. It defines the conventions for qualification descriptors and for the classification of degrees and awards.

It contains the regulations for the conduct of exams, for student progression procedures and for assessment appeals procedures. It also includes the University’s policies on feedback on assessment, group work, coursework submission, academic integrity, extenuating circumstances and on adjustments for disabled students.

Occasionally it is necessary to adjust and revise policies and regulations. As a result of changes to the Code of Practice on Assessment there are now multiple versions of appendices B and C which apply to different cohorts of students depending on the date they started their programmes. These appendices relate to the model for non-clinical undergraduate programmes (Appendix B) and to the model and award classifications for PGT modular programmes (Appendix C).  When referring to these appendices please ensure you use the correct version.

If you are in any doubt about which appendix to use, or would like further advice on the Code of Practice on Assessment, please contact the Academic Quality and Standards Division.
