Background
Qiyuan Xu graduated from Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University in 2017 with a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering. His BEng project studied the propagation of electromagnetic waves in Bluetooth technology. In 2020, he received the MSc in Artificial Intelligence at the University of Edinburgh. His master's project focused on leveraging machine learning techniques for multi-dimension time series data pattern recognition.
In October 2023, Qiyuan joined the QUASAR Group as a LIV.INNO CDT PhD student in collaboration with CERN. His current research addresses the challenges of transverse beam imaging in high-radiation environments. The project aims to develop a radiation-tolerant optical transmission and reconstruction system using multimode fiber and artificial intelligence technologies to mitigate radiation damage to sensitive electronics, such as cameras. His work also involves evaluate the impact of various factors, such as perturbations (in temperature and fiber geometry change), on the long-term imaging reconstruction performance.
