Dr Tom Moore is a Senior Lecturer in Housing and Planning.

Tom's research interests include:

- Housing policy and practice, with a particular interest in civil society innovations such as community land trusts and co-operatives
- Community development
- Community planning and citizen participation in urban and rural planning processes
- 'Runnability' in urban and rural planning, exploring how social and planning policy can enable safe, inclusive and healthy recreational running

Tom teaches modules related to sustainable development policy, planning law and governance, housing and community planning, and academic, study and employability skills. In 2025, Tom and colleagues from the University's Careers Service were awarded the Faculty of Science and Engineering's Sir Alistair Pilkington award for their work in embedding employability into the curriculum.
