About
I am a public historian and museologist working on the topics of heritage, tourism, colonialism, and domestic history. I have led and contributed to numerous projects with academics, international professionals, and researchers focused on the intersection of academic and heritage practice with social justice. Recently, I have worked on projects that interrogate penal history, the institutional structures of imperialism, and instruments of knowledge exchange (both historical and contemporary).
I am an active member of the Respect Group, Legacies of Slavery and Colonialism Working Group, Auditing Public Histories of Slavery Group, Transatlantic Slavery and Legacies in Museums Forum (NML), Legacies of Enslavement Network (Cambridge), Liverpool Colonial Research Network, ISM Champions Group, and the Universities Studying Slavery Consortium (UVA). I have also been a member of the Steering Board for the Waterfront Transformation Project and have served on the Historians Panel as part of the early consultation process for the redeveloped International Slavery Museum. I supervise PhD students across the Faculty and am based in the History department.
