I qualified as an accountant while undertaking the Graduate Development Programme with Barclays plc. I then spent 20 years in private exam-based professional education - the first 13 years were spent with BPP Professional Education, before setting up a private education company (First Intuition Reading Ltd) with colleagues, in 2010. The businesses specialised in the provision of exam training towards the major professional accounting bodies' examinations.
I joined the University of Liverpool in 2017, lecturing at undergraduate and postgraduate level, specialising in management accounting, strategy and corporate finance. In addition, I am the Director of Studies for the online MSc Finance & Investment Management programme. I also chair the postgraduate online programmes exam board for the Management School and I am the Deputy Chair for the undergraduate exam board.
