About

Personal Statement

I am a geologist with an interest in sedimentary rocks and a keen interest in learning and teaching. My close association with the University of Liverpool has developed over the last 22 years and stems from 1995 when I began part-time study for my Ph.D. at the University of Liverpool. In 2003 I became a University Recognised Teacher and Honorary Member of Staff. I was appointed Honorary Visiting Senior Fellow in the School of Environmental Sciences at the University of Liverpool in 2015.
Before joining the University I taught Geology and Geography in secondary schools and sixth form colleges in the Merseyside area. I have a strong association with the Earth Science Teachers’ Association (a national teaching organization based in the U.K.) and have served in this association as Treasurer, Newsletter Editor, Assistant Magazine Editor, Chair and Special Projects Manager.
