Placements

Every PhD reseracher will have the opportunity to undertake a placement

Placements are an integral part of the CDT training programme.

Partners offer PhD students placements as part of their investment in the CDT. The placement provides the students and partners valuable opportunities to collaborate; gain new experiences and skills; and apply new research ideas to relevant data challenges.

Placement guidance for partners

The placement details (such as timing, topic and duration) are discussed as a team in the first three months of the PhD and formal plans are coordinated on a case-by-case basis. The majority of the CDT placements take place during year 3 but this can vary. For more information please review the CDT placement guidance (PDF, 180KB).

Placement guidance from UKRI

The CDT is funded and governed by UKRI. The bespoke CDT placement guidance complies with UKRI's guidance. Check the UKRI placement flowchart (PDF) or visit the UKRI website to read more about PhD placements.
